Sūtra

Before interpretation, note size, weight, count, and sequence. Many errors begin when commentary outruns measurement.

  1. The first discipline of reading is not opinion but measure. Folio count, line count, missing leaves, and hand changes narrow the field of possible claims.

  2. In śāstra and in revenue records alike, proportion often carries the argument. A misplaced unit may produce a doctrine where there was only arithmetic.

  3. Meaning should be invited after measure has prepared the room for it.
